In 2013 Qatar Airways joined the oneworld alliance as a full member.
This was the first of the "big 3" middle eastern airlines to join a alliance, and the rapidly growing carrier offered great additional capacity to the oneworld network as well as being ideally geographicaly located for transfers.
My Role in this programme
In this programme I was the accountable project manager from the sponsor, supporting with all the joining requirements and ensuring compliance with the oneworld policies.
The changes included
Frequent flyer agreements with other airlines
oneworld branding (from Fully painted aircraft to napkins)
Recipricol lounge access agreements and tier alignment
Customer service agreements
Baggage through check ability
Commercial systems changes (such as fare ladder structure)
Launch event preparations
Tracking progress and reporting back to all other oneworld airlines.
My Project Role in this programme
Managed the project and PMO with a cross directorate team reporting to me on progress
Programme scope and tracking
Detailed cutover plans and gap analysis
Presentations, running conferance calls and site visits.
Support with coordinating legal questions with all parties to ensure compliant
Outcome
This was the fastest implementation of a oneworld member.
Today millons of customers benefit from enhanced connectivity and alliance customer proposition.
Qatar Airways has continued its growth and has built on its great reputation with alliance members frequent flyers.
I was recognised with an award from IAG CEO for the contribution to this project.
